Sharing a good story is one of the oldest of human traditions. From tear-inducing dramas, to the release and levity of a gut-busting comedy, nothing seems to bring people together like a story performed. If your child seems destined for the spotlight, let ACACNJ help them build the skills, discipline and confidence necessary to succeed.
Our Performing Arts Program is all about student empowerment; our students collaborate with instructors each step of the process, so that every cycle's showcase reflects the individual styles and stories of the students who produced it.
Sing and dance along to your favorite Broadway tunes while gaining stage confidence. A fun and joyful experience for all kids!

Building upon the principles in Acting 1, the Acting 2 experience focuses on developing the basic acting techniques of characterization, role analysis, stage movement, voice, and body control. The discovery and use of power from the center (in breathing, speaking, and moving) will also be implemented. Students will have a chance to work on scenes in partners and in groups. They will experience being seen and heard in a judgement-free environment.
For the serious performer. The advanced acting class will dive into scene study and character development on a deeper level. The students will choose material that speaks to them and experiment with various method options to reach a comfortable level of performance. Students will engage in guided discussions of performances, rehearsals, workshops, small group and large group activities, written and creative assignments, and final performances.
Laughter and spontaneity are encouraged as students learn the basics of effective comedy. Children of various age groups interact and challenge one another to think “outside the box”. Each class explores a different modality to open minds and hearts. Saying “yes”, risk-taking, sharing responsibility and taking control are all parts of the learning process. A fun and exciting class for all levels!
